Measurements of gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion Higgs boson production cross-sections in the H → WW ∗ → eνμν decay channel in pp collisions at s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Higgs boson production cross-sections in proton–proton collisions are measured in the H → WW ∗ → eνμν decay channel. The proton–proton collision data were produced at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1fb -1 . The product of the H→WW ∗ branching fraction times the gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion cross-sections are measured to be 11.4$_{-1.1}^{+1.2}$(stat.)$_{-1.7}^{+1.8}$(syst.) pb and 0.50$_{-0.22}^{+0.24}$(stat.)±0.17(syst.) pb, respectively, in agreement with Standard Model predictions.

Color Randomization of Fast Gluon-Gluon Pairs in the Quark-Gluon Plasma

We study the color randomization of two-gluon states produced after splitting of a primary fast gluon in the quark-gluon plasma. We find that for the LHC conditions the color randomization of the gg pairs is rather slow. At jet energies E = 100 and 500 GeV, for typical jet path length in the plasma in central Pb+Pb collisions, the SU(3)-multiplet averaged color Casimir operator of the gg pair differs considerably from its value 2N{sub c} for a fully randomized gg state. Our calculations of the energy dependence for generation of the nearly collinear decuplet gg states, that can lead to the baryon jet fragmentation, show that the contribution of the anomalous decuplet color states to the baryon production should become small at p{sub T} ≳ 10 GeV.

Measurements of Higgs boson production by gluon-gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion using and vector-boson using $H$ → $WW*$ → $evμv$ decays in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Higgs boson production via gluon-gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion in proton-proton collisions is measured in the $H$ → $WW*$ → $evμv$ decay channel. The Large Hadron Collider delivered proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV between 2015 and 2018, which were recorded by the ATLAS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb -1 . The total cross sections for Higgs boson production by gluon-gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion times the $H$ $\rightarrow$ $WW$* branching ratio are measured to be 12.0 ± 1.4 and ${0.75}_{- 0.16}^{+ 0.19}$ pb, respectively, in agreement with the Standard Model predictions of 10.4 ± 0.6 and 0.81 ± 0.02 pb. Higgs boson production is further characterized through measurements of Simplified Template Cross Sections in a total of 11 kinematic fiducial regions.

Measurements of Higgs boson production via gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion using $H\rightarrow WW^*\rightarrow \ell \nu \ell \nu$ decays in pp collisions with the ATLAS detector and their effective field theory interpretations

Higgs boson production cross-sections via gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion in proton–proton collisions are measured in the $H\rightarrow WW^*\rightarrow \ell \nu \ell \nu$ decay channel. The Large Hadron Collider delivered proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV between 2015 and 2018, which were recorded by the ATLAS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $140\,\text {fb}^{-1}.$ The total cross-sections for Higgs boson production by gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion times the $H\rightarrow WW^*$ branching ratio are measured to be $12.4^{+1.3}_{-1.2}\,\text {pb}$ and $0.79^{+0.18}_{-0.16}\,\text {pb},$ respectively, in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Higgs boson production is further characterised through measurements of Simplified Template Cross-Sections in a total of fifteen kinematic fiducial regions. A new scheme of kinematic fiducial regions has been introduced to enhance the sensitivity to CP-violating effects in Higgs boson interactions. Both schemes are used to constrain CP-even and CP-odd dimension-six operators in the Standard Model effective field theory.

Gluon saturation in proton and its contribution to single inclusive soft gluon production in high energy proton-nucleus collisions

The leading order single inclusive soft gluon production in high energy proton-nucleus (pA) collisions has been studied by various approaches for more than two decades. The first correction due to the gluon saturation in proton was analytically attempted recently through a diagrammatic approach in which only partial results were obtained. An important feature of the first saturation correction is that it includes both initial state and final state interactions. In this paper, we present the complete result derived from the Color Glass Condensate framework. Our approach is to analytically solve the classical Yang-Mills equations in the dilute-dense regime and then use the Lehmann-Symanzik-Zimmermann (LSZ) reduction formula to obtain gluon production from classical gluon fields.

Small-𝑥 gluon GPD constrained from deeply virtual 𝐽/𝜓 production and gluon PDF through universal-moment parametrization

We phenomenologically constrain the small-𝑥 and small-𝜉 gluon generalized parton distributions (GPDs) with the deeply virtual 𝐽/𝜓 production (DV⁢𝐽/𝜓⁢P) in the framework of GPDs through universal moment parameterization (GUMP). We use a hybrid cross-section formula combining collinear factorization to the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy of the strong coupling 𝛼 𝑠 , with corrections from nonrelativistic QCD to account for the power corrections due to the heavy 𝐽/𝜓 mass. We reach reasonable fit to the measured differential cross sections of DV⁢𝐽/𝜓⁢P by H1 at the Hadron-Electron Ring Accelerator as well as forward gluon parton distribution functions (PDFs) from JAM22 global analysis. We find that both NLO and nonrelativistic corrections are significant for heavy vector meson productions. Of course, the gluon GPD we obtain still contains considerable freedom in need of inputs from other constraints, particularly in the distribution-amplitude-like region.

Helicity evolution at small x : quark to gluon and gluon to quark transition operators

We include the quark to gluon and gluon to quark shock-wave transition operators into the small Bjorken-x evolution equations for helicity in the flavor-singlet channel derived earlier in [1,2,3]. While such transitions do not affect the large-N c version of the evolution equations for helicity, the large-N c & N f equations are affected. (N c and N f are the numbers of quark colors and flavors, respectively.) We derive the corresponding corrected large-N c & N f equations for the polarized dipole amplitudes contributing to the flavor-singlet quark and gluon helicity distributions in the double-logarithmic approximation (DLA), resumming powers of α s ln 2 (1/x) with αs the strong coupling constant. We solve these equations iteratively and extract the polarized splitting functions up to four loops. We show that our splitting functions agree with the fixed-order perturbative calculations up to and including the existing three-loops results [4,5,6,7]. Similar to the large-Nc helicity evolution in the shock-wave approach [8], our large-N c & N f small-x splitting functions agree with those obtained in the infrared evolution equations framework from [9, 10] up to three loops, but appear to slightly disagree at four loops.

Measurement of fiducial differential cross sections of gluon-fusion production of Higgs bosons decaying to WW *→eνμν with the ATLAS detector at s = 8 $$ \sqrt{s}=8 $$ TeV

This paper describes a measurement of fiducial and differential cross sections of gluon-fusion Higgs boson production in the H → W W*→ eνμν channel, using 20.3 fb -1 of proton-proton collision data. The data were produced at a centre-of-mass energy of √=8 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2012. Cross sections are measured from the observed H→ W W*→ eνμν signal yield in categories distinguished by the number of associated jets. The total cross section is measured in a fiducial region defined by the kinematic properties of the charged leptons and neutrinos. Differential cross sections are reported as a function of the number of jets, the Higgs boson transverse momentum, the dilepton rapidity, and the transverse momentum of the leading jet. The jet-veto efficiency, or fraction of events with no jets above a given transverse momentum threshold, is also reported. All measurements are compared to QCD predictions from Monte Carlo generators and fixed-order calculations, and are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions.

Gluon amplitudes as 2 d conformal correlators

Recently, spin-one wave functions in four dimensions that are conformal primaries of the Lorentz group S L ( 2 , C ) were constructed. Herein, we compute low-point, tree-level gluon scattering amplitudes in the space of these conformal primary wave functions. The answers show the same conformal covariance as correlators of spin-one primaries in a 2 d CFT. The Britto–Cachazo–Feng–Witten (BCFW) recursion relation between three- and four-point gluon amplitudes is recast into this conformal basis.
