SmPtGe crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pmmn space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are three inequivalent Sm sites. In the first Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to six Pt and six Ge atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Pt bond distances ranging from 2.99–3.21 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.09–3.27 Å. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to six Pt and six Ge atoms. There are two shorter (3.12 Å) and four longer (3.17 Å) Sm–Pt bond lengths. All Sm–Ge bond lengths are 3.23 Å. In the third Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to six Pt and six Ge atoms. There are four shorter (3.26 Å) and two longer (3.27 Å) Sm–Pt bond lengths. There are four shorter (3.06 Å) and two longer (3.12 Å) Sm–Ge bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Pt sites. In the first Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to six Sm, one Pt, and three Ge atoms. The Pt–Pt bond length is 3.14 Å. SmPtGe2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Sm sites. In the first Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Pt and ten Ge atoms. All Sm–Pt bond lengths are 3.30 Å. There are four shorter (3.30 Å) and six longer (3.40 Å) Sm–Ge bond lengths. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Pt and eight Ge atoms. There are four shorter (3.25 Å) and two longer (3.28 Å) Sm–Pt bond lengths. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.05–3.08 Å. Pt is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to five Sm and five Ge atoms. There are a spread of Pt–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.51–2.68 Å. There are three inequivalent Ge sites. In the first Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to six Sm, two equivalent Pt, and one Ge atom. The Ge–Ge bond length is 2.45 Å. In the second Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm, two equivalent Pt, and one Ge atom. The Ge–Ge bond length is 2.45 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.07–3.53 Å. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four Pt and twelve Ge atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Pt bond distances ranging from 3.22–3.29 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.05–3.55 Å. In the second Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two equivalent Pt, and two Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.55 Å) and one longer (2.70 Å) Ge–Ge bond lengths. In the third Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and three Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.68 Å) and one longer (2.79 Å) Ge–Ge bond lengths. In the fourth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five Ge atoms. There are a spread of Ge–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.57–2.78 Å. In the fifth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two equivalent Pt, and two Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.77 Å) and one longer (2.79 Å) Ge–Ge bond lengths. In the sixth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. In the seventh Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and three Ge atoms. In the eighth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. The Ge–Ge bond length is 2.71 Å. In the ninth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. The Ge–Ge bond length is 2.76 Å. In the tenth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. In the eleventh Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. The Ge–Ge bond length is 2.73 Å. In the twelfth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms. In the thirteenth Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three Sm, two Pt, and two Ge atoms.

Sm(PtGe)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to eight Pt and eight Ge atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Pt bond distances ranging from 3.26–3.44 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.23–3.40 Å. There are two inequivalent Pt sites. In the first Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and five Ge atoms. There are a spread of Pt–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.45–2.52 Å. In the second Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and four equivalent Ge atoms. There are a spread of Pt–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.53–2.57 Å. There are two inequivalent Ge sites. In the first Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and five Pt atoms. Sm(PtGe)2 crystallizes in the tetragonal P4/nmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to eight Pt and eight Ge atoms. There are four shorter (3.32 Å) and four longer (3.35 Å) Sm–Pt bond lengths. There are four shorter (3.30 Å) and four longer (3.32 Å) Sm–Ge bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Pt sites. In the first Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and four equivalent Ge atoms. All Pt–Ge bond lengths are 2.56 Å. In the second Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and five Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.45 Å) and four longer (2.52 Å) Pt–Ge bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Ge sites. In the first Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and four equivalent Pt atoms. Materials Data on Sm2Ge3Pt by Materials Project

Sm2PtGe3 is hexagonal omega structure-derived structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pmm2 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Sm sites. In the first Sm site, Sm is bonded to two equivalent Pt and ten Ge atoms to form a mixture of face and edge-sharing SmGe10Pt2 cuboctahedra. Both Sm–Pt bond lengths are 3.15 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.21–3.27 Å. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded to four equivalent Pt and eight Ge atoms to form a mixture of face and edge-sharing SmGe8Pt4 cuboctahedra. All Sm–Pt bond lengths are 3.26 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.13–3.24 Å. Pt is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to six Sm and three Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.44 Å) and two longer (2.46 Å) Pt–Ge bond lengths. There are three inequivalent Ge sites. In the first Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to six Sm and three Ge atoms. There are one shorter (2.49 Å) and two longer (2.53 Å) Ge–Ge bond lengths. In the second Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to six Sm, two equivalent Pt, and one Ge atom. In the third Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to six Sm, one Pt, and two equivalent Ge atoms.

Sm2Pt3Ge5 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Ibam space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to seven Pt and ten Ge atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Pt bond distances ranging from 3.19–3.55 Å. There are a spread of Sm–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.04–3.40 Å. There are two inequivalent Pt sites. In the first Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and six Ge atoms. There are four shorter (2.57 Å) and two longer (2.71 Å) Pt–Ge bond lengths. In the second Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Sm and five Ge atoms. There are a spread of Pt–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.44–2.55 Å. There are three inequivalent Ge sites. In the first Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm and four equivalent Pt atoms. In the second Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm, three Pt, and two equivalent Ge atoms. Both Ge–Ge bond lengths are 2.68 Å. In the third Ge site, Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm, three Pt, and two equivalent Ge atoms.
