Materials Data on MgH12SO9 by Materials Project

MgH12SO9 crystallizes in the trigonal R3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mg2+ is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six O2- atoms. There are three shorter (2.07 Å) and three longer (2.16 Å) Mg–O bond lengths. There are four inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.00 Å) and one longer (1.70 Å) H–O bond length. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.01 Å) and one longer (1.68 Å) H–O bond length. In the third H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (0.99 Å) and one longer (1.77 Å) H–O bond length. In the fourth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. S4+ is bonded in a trigonal non-coplanar geometry to three equivalent O2- atoms. All S–O bond lengths are 1.56 Å. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to one Mg2+ and two H1+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to one Mg2+ and two H1+ atoms. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to three H1+ and one S4+ atom.

Materials Data on MgH2SO5 by Materials Project

MgH2SO5 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with two equivalent MgO6 octahedra and corners with four equivalent SO4 tetrahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 56°. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.04–2.20 Å. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. S6+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form SO4 tetrahedra that share corners with four equivalent MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 39–47°. There is two shorter (1.47 Å) and two longer (1.50 Å) S–O bond length. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to two equivalent Mg2+ and two equivalent H1+ atoms.

Materials Data on MgH10SO9 by Materials Project

(H2O)5MgOSO3 crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two water molecules and one MgH8SO8 ribbon oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. In the MgH8SO8 ribbon, there are two inequivalent Mg2+ sites. In the first Mg2+ site, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with two equivalent SO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.08–2.13 Å. In the second Mg2+ site, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with two equivalent SO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.02–2.16 Å. There are eight inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. In the third H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.00 Å) and one longer (1.71 Å) H–O bond length. In the fourth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the fifth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. In the sixth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted bent 120 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to one Mg2+ and two H1+ atoms. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to one Mg2+ and two H1+ atoms. MgH6(SO4)4 crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with six SO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.06–2.12 Å. There are three inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a distorted linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.02 Å) and one longer (1.59 Å) H–O bond length. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.03 Å) and one longer (1.54 Å) H–O bond length. In the third H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.03 Å) and one longer (1.55 Å) H–O bond length. There are two inequivalent S6+ sites. In the first S6+ site, S6+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form SO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 33°. There are a spread of S–O bond distances ranging from 1.45–1.55 Å. In the second S6+ site, S6+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form SO4 tetrahedra that share corners with two equivalent MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 19–34°. There are a spread of S–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.56 Å. There are eight inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to one H1+ and one S6+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to one H1+ and one S6+ atom. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to one H1+ and one S6+ atom. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to two H1+ and one S6+ atom. In the seventh O2- site, O2- is bonded in a water-like geometry to one H1+ and one S6+ atom. In the eighth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom.

MgH12SO9S crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of four hydrogen sulfide molecules and two MgH12SO9 ribbons oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. In each MgH12SO9 ribbon, Mg2+ is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six O2- atoms. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.06–2.16 Å. There are six inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the third H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. In the fourth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the fifth H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to two O2- atoms. Materials Data on MgH12(SO6)2 by Materials Project

MgO6(H2)2(H2O)4(SO)2 crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of two dihydrogen molecules, two sulfur monoxide molecules, four water molecules, and one MgO6 cluster. In the MgO6 cluster, Mg2+ is bonded in a distorted rectangular see-saw-like geometry to four O2- atoms. All Mg–O bond lengths are 2.04 Å. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to one Mg2+ and one O2- atom. The O–O bond length is 1.40 Å. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a water-like geometry to two O2- atoms. The O–O bond length is 1.36 Å. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to one Mg2+ and one O2- atom.

In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Mg2+ and one S6+ atom.
