HANDBOOK BEST PRACTICES FOR ORGANIZING PUBLIC E WASTE COLLECTION EVENTS Indoor and Outdoor Settings

This handbook was created to share best practices of organizing public e-waste collection events in the United States. The steps and checklists outlined in this handbook have been drawn from Sunnking’s decade’s long experience of organizing large scale outdoor collection events in New York. These practices have been verified by INL and ECyclers of Idaho to work well for both indoor and outdoor events in Idaho at a smaller scale. Understanding that the local conditions vary significantly, we have compiled key deciding factors to share in this handbook. We hope that by following these steps, you will succeed in organizing your own events. Although e-waste events typically require careful logistics planning due to the nature of the materials, the experience is very rewarding to bring the community together.

TMD Handbook

This handbook provides a comprehensive review of transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions, commonly referred to as transverse momentum distributions (TMDs). TMDs describe the distribution of partons inside the proton and other hadrons with respect to both their longitudinal and transverse momenta. They provide unique insight into the internal momentum and spin structure of hadrons, and are a key ingredient in the description of many collider physics cross sections. Understanding TMDs requires a combination of theoretical techniques from quantum field theory, nonperturbative calculations using lattice QCD, and phenomenological analysis of experimental data. The handbook covers a wide range of topics, from theoretical foundations to experimental analyses, as well as recent developments and future directions. It is intended to provide an essential reference for researchers and graduate students interested in understanding the structure of hadrons and the dynamics of partons in high energy collisions.

Stereo Cameras for Clouds (STEREOCAM) Instrument Handbook

The three pairs of stereo camera setups aim to provide synchronized and stereo calibrated time series of images that can be used for 3D cloud mask reconstruction. Each camera pair is positioned at approximately 120 degrees from the other pair, with a 17o-19o pitch angle from the ground, and at 5-6 km distance from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Central Facility at the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility Southern Great Plains (SGP) observatory to cover the region from northeast, northwest, and southern views. Images from both cameras of the same stereo setup can be paired together to obtain 3D reconstruction by triangulation. 3D reconstructions from the ring of three stereo pairs can be combined together to generate a 3D mask from surrounding views. This handbook delivers all stereo reconstruction parameters of the cameras necessary to make 3D reconstructions from the stereo camera images.

Uranium Mononitride (UN) Handbook

Uranium Mononitride (UN) is being reexamined as a high temperature advanced nuclear fuel in many reactor applications due to its high thermal conductivity, high melting point, and high fissionable uranium density, among other desirable properties. A thorough review of the experimental data for the material and irradiation properties has been collected and is presented in this handbook. As an outcome of this review, in many cases, it is apparent that additional experimental verification must be conducted to verify the available data and to verify the suggested empirical correlations.

Best Practices Handbook for the Collection and Use of Solar Resource Data for Solar Energy Applications: Fourth Edition

As the world increasingly seeks low-carbon energy solutions, solar power emerges as the most abundant resource on our planet. However, the challenge of effectively harnessing this energy is crucial in the coming years. Solar energy applications such as photovoltaics, solar heating and cooling, and concentrating solar power use different technologies to capitalize on sunlight. Each system has unique capabilities and requirements, underscoring the need for reliable information about solar resources across diverse installations, from residential rooftops to large-scale power plants. This is especially important for substantial projects, often exceeding $1 billion in construction costs. Before embarking on such ventures, it is imperative to obtain accurate data concerning solar resource quality and reliability at specific sites. Developers require detailed historical information, including seasonal, daily, hourly, and, ideally, subhourly variability to effectively predict a power plant's annual performance. Without these vital data, financial analyses fall short. Moreover, with the growing adoption of distributed photovoltaics, integrating these generation sources becomes critical to maintaining grid reliability and stability. By accurately forecasting generation patterns, utilities and system operators can facilitate greater integration of solar energy, thus ensuring the operational stability of the grid. The complexity and importance of these issues have prompted the foremost experts in the field to collaborate under the auspices of the International Energy Agency's (IEA's) Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) Task 16 to publish this handbook, which summarizes state-of-the-art information about all these topics. The efforts focus on providing reliable data and insights that can help shape our investments in solar energy and drive a sustainable future.

Handbook of Molecular Beam Epitaxy of Oxide Materials: Epitaxial Complex Oxide Growth on Semiconductors

This chapter covers the epitaxy of complex oxides on common inorganic semiconductors. The chapter opens with an introduction, motivating the subject and highlighting key general challenges (Section 6.1). We then proceed to describe the general steps of the growth procedure in Section 6.2, which concludes with an overall discussion about trade-offs and expectation management, with an emphasis on the oxide–semiconductor interface. From there, the text describes oxide growth on the common semiconductors, starting with silicon (Section 6.3), where surface reactions and oxidation are the most challenging aspects. Oxide epitaxy on germanium is described in Section 6.4, which is a less challenging oxide growth scheme on semiconductors. Section 6.5 describes oxide epitaxy on gallium arsenide, one of the more challenging schemes, where interface stability and surface preparation pose key challenges. Finally, in Section 6.6, oxide epitaxy on gallium nitride is described, where the lattice mismatch takes the stage as the key challenge. Altogether, this chapter aims to provide the reader with the practical knowledge, tactics and strategies for oxide epitaxy on semiconductors.

AmeriFlux Measurement Component Instrument Handbook

An AMC system was installed at the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility’s North Slope Alaska (NSA) Barrow site, also known as NSA C1 at the ARM Data Archive, in August 2012. A second AMC system was installed at the third ARM Mobile Facility deployment at Oliktok Point, also known as NSA M1. This in situ system consists of 12 combination soil temperature and volumetric water content (VWC) reflectometers and one set of upwelling and downwelling PAR sensors, all deployed within the fetch of the Eddy Correlation Flux Measurement System. Soil temperature and VWC sensors placed at two depths (10 and 30 cm below the vegetation layer) at six locations (or microsites) allow soil property inhomogeneity to be monitored across a landscape. The soil VWC and temperature sensors used at NSA C1 are the Campbell Scientific CS650L and the sensors at NSA M1 use the Campbell Scientific CS655. The two sensors are nearly identical in function, and vendor specifications are based on the CS650 unless otherwise stated.
