MTP Observations During the ATTREX Integration and Test Flight

MTP temperature calibration is excellent and agrees with the MMS calbration (or MMS agrees with MTP, since its calibration was com pleted long before that of MMS!) center dot Having radiosondes laun ched from the Global Hawk base is extremely important for accurate tem pe rature calibration in radiosonde - sparse oceanic regions center. The MTP measurement of the cold-point will make an important contribution to the future ATTREX field campaigns because the demonstrated sp ati al variation of cold- point requires continuous measurements which only the MTP can provide. Profiling with the aircraft is not adequate. The MTP-measured isentropes will be important in studying atmospheric dynamics in the TTL, and how t his dynamics affects both the composition and (possibly) the thermal structure of the TTL.

Comparison of DeePMD, MTP, GAP, ACE and MACE Machine‐Learned Potentials for Radiation‐Damage Simulations: A User Perspective

Accurate and efficient interatomic potentials are essential for molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of radiation damage, gas diffusion, and phase stability in complex ceramics such as LiAlO 2 , especially under extreme conditions relevant to tritium production. Here, we evaluate the performance of six machine-learned interatomic potentials (MLIPs), moment tensor potential (MTP), Gaussian approximation potential, deep potential (DeePMD), atomic cluster expansion (ACE), message-passing ACE (multilayer atomic cluster expansion (MACE) pretrained) and MACE (trained from-scratch), all trained on the same density functional theory dataset with inclusion of tritium. The MLIPs are benchmarked against traditional Buckingham and ReaxFF potentials in terms of energy accuracy, density predictions, thermal equilibration behavior, threshold displacement energy (E d ), tritium diffusivity, and computational cost. Among the models, MTP shows the best overall balance between efficiency and accuracy, with low force and energy errors and realistic E d values for Li and Al. The ACE and MACE (pretrained and trained from scratch) models exhibit high E d (>200 eV) and unphysical pair interactions. DeePMD underestimates Ed due to overly repulsive behavior even at equilibrium distances. All models over-estimate tritium diffusion but the pretrained MACE model behaves well during tritium-diffusion simulations up to 500 K, maintaining diffusivities in the physically consistent 10 −11 m 2 /s range. Finally, we quantify the computational cost of each potential in large-scale atomic/molecular massively parallel simulator, finding that only MTP is more efficient than traditional empirical potentials, while others are significantly more expensive. These findings explain the trade-offs between accuracy and computational cost in MLIP development and provide essential guidance for use in high-throughput radiation damage and gas diffusion simulations in nuclear ceramics.

Geophysica MTP observations during the EUPLEX campaign

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Microwave Temperature Profiler (MTP) was the first United States instrument to fly on the Russian Geophysica high-altitude research aircraft. Careful comparison of MTP measurements with radiosondes launched near the Geophysica flight track has allowed us to establish the flight level temperature to an accuracy of 0.2K.

DC-8 MTP calibration for SOLVE-2

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Microwave Temperature Profiler (MTP) was the only instrument making temperature measurements at and below flight level on the DC-8 during the SOLVE-2 campaign. Many years of careful comparison of MTP measurements with radiosondes near the DC-8 flight track have shown that the flight level temperature can be determined to an accuracy of 0.2K relative to radiosondes.

Surface prediction and measurement for modulated tool path (MTP) turning

Here, this paper describes a time-domain simulation for predicting surface finish in modulated tool path (MTP) turning, which uses sinusoidal axis motions in the feed direction to produce discontinuous chips for ductile workpiece materials. The simulation includes: the low frequency and low amplitude tool oscillation in the feed direction; the time-varying chip thickness, cutting force, and tool displacement; and the plastic side flow effect used to calibrate the effective tool nose radius. Comparisons between predicted and measured surface profiles are presented for turning a 6061-T6 aluminum cylinder as a function of the MTP oscillation frequency and amplitude with discontinuous chip formation.

Characterization of the Twelve Channel 100/140 Micron Optical Fiber, Ribbon Cable and MTP Array Connector Assembly for Space Flight Environments

Presented here is the second set of testing conducted by the Technology Validation Laboratory for Photonics at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center on the 12 optical fiber ribbon cable with MTP array connector for space flight environments. In the first set of testing the commercial 62.5/125 cable assembly was characterized using space flight parameters. The testing showed that the cable assembly would survive a typical space flight mission with the exception of a vacuum environment. Two enhancements were conducted to the existing technology to better suit the vacuum environment as well as the existing optoelectronics and increase the reliability of the assembly during vibration. The MTP assembly characterized here has a 100/140 optical commercial fiber and non outgassing connector and cable components. The characterization for this enhanced fiber optic cable assembly involved vibration, thermal and radiation testing. The data and results of this characterization study are presented which include optical in-situ testing.

Analysis of the Selective Flotation of Elemental Gold from Pyrite Using Diisobutyl Monothiophosphate

The gold contained in copper ores is an important resource for the gold industry. In some cases, elemental gold is present and can be recovered by selective flotation. It has been reported that the gold grade and recovery can be increased, without sacrificing the copper recovery, by replacing AERO 3477 (diisobutyl dithiophosphate (DTP)) with AERO 7249 (mixture of diisobutyl monothiophosphate (MTP) and diisobutyl dithiophosphate (DTP)) as the main collector. The fundamental understanding of the improvement in selectivity with the addition of MTP in the flotation of elemental gold from pyrite is limited and is the subject of this paper. In this regard, the hydrophobicity and selectivity of DTP and MTP in the flotation of pyrite and gold are compared and discussed. Density functional theory (DFT) was used to examine the electron density, reactivity, highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of the MTP and DTP collectors. The interaction energies for the adsorption of MTP and DTP from fresh pyrite, oxidized pyrite and gold surfaces were calculated and discussed with respect to the experimental results reported in the literature. Molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) was used to examine the adsorption state of MTP and DTP on the pyrite (100) and Au (111) surfaces.
