Materials Data on SmPt3 by Materials Project

SmPt3 is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm2+ is bonded to twelve equivalent Pt+0.67- atoms to form a mixture of corner and face-sharing SmPt12 cuboctahedra. All Sm–Pt bond lengths are 2.95 Å. Pt+0.67- is bonded in a distorted square co-planar geometry to four equivalent Sm2+ atoms.

Materials Data on Sm3Pt4 by Materials Project

Sm3Pt4 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm+2.67+ is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine Pt2- atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Pt bond distances ranging from 2.92–3.34 Å. There are three inequivalent Pt2- sites. In the first Pt2- site, Pt2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Sm+2.67+ atoms. In the second Pt2- site, Pt2- is bonded in a distorted octahedral geometry to six equivalent Sm+2.67+ atoms. In the third Pt2- site, Pt2- is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to seven equivalent Sm+2.67+ and three equivalent Pt2- atoms. There are one shorter (2.92 Å) and two longer (3.03 Å) Pt–Pt bond lengths.
