Traversable wormhole solution with a background Kalb–Ramond field

Highlights: • Wormhole solutions of gravity in a Lorentz breaking symmetry scenario are found. • Light deflection by the wormhole in a Lorentz breaking symmetry scenario is calculated. • It is shown the influence of the vacuum expectation value of a Kalb–Ramond field in deflection of light. We obtain a static spherically symmetric wormhole solution due to the vacuum expectation value (vev) of a Kalb–Ramond field. The Kalb–Ramond (vev) is a background tensor field which produces a local Lorentz symmetry breaking (LSB) of spacetime. Considering a non-minimal coupling between the Kalb–Ramond (vev) and the Ricci tensor, we found an exact traversable wormhole solution sustained by matter sources with a negative isotropic pressure. The matter source satisfies the energy conditions at the throat for particular choices of the LSB parameter. Moreover, we employ the Gauss–Bonnet method to analyze the deflection angle of light in the weak limit approximation.

On the Lagrangian turbulence in continua

Lagrangian turbulence in continua is introduced as a failure of Euclidian metric of a material system of coordinates, and it is shown that the Ricci tensor of such a system of coordinates may be used as a measure of L-turbulence. The conditions which are sufficient, though not necessary, for instability of an initially infinitesimal disturbance of this tensor are determined for fluid, elastic, and viscoelastic bodies. The results are obtained from the linearized equations, and therefore the growth of unstable solutions may be bounded.

Quasinormal modes for non-minimally coupled scalar fields in regular black hole spacetimes: Grey-body factors, area spectrum and shadow radius

Black hole perturbation theory is a useful approach to study interactions between black holes and fundamental fields. A particular class of black hole solutions arising out of modification of Einstein’s general theory of relativity are regular black holes (RBHs) which can be constructed using a nonlinear electrodynamic Lagrangian. Because of their importance, we are interested in studying the behavior of three kinds of such RBHs under perturbations generated by an external field. Indeed, we investigate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a massive scalar field propagating near the RBHs which is non-minimally coupled to the Ricci scalar-tensor of background geometry. We will attempt to find the low-lying quasinormal frequencies of the perturbations by using WKB approximation. We shall also study the relationship between the QNMs and some characteristic properties of black holes such as grey-body factors, area quantization, and shadow radius.

Gravitational memory and compact extra dimensions

Here we develop a general formalism for treating radiative degrees of freedom near $\mathscr{I}^+$ in theories with an arbitrary Ricci-flat internal space. These radiative modes are encoded in a generalized news tensor which decomposes into gravitational, electromagnetic, and scalar components. We find a preferred gauge which simplifies the asymptotic analysis of the full nonlinear Einstein equations and makes the asymptotic symmetry group transparent. This asymptotic symmetry group extends the Bondi–Metzner–Sachs (BMS) group to include angle-dependent isometries of the internal space. We apply this formalism to study memory effects, which are expected to be observed in future experiments, that arise from bursts of higher-dimensional gravitational radiation. We outline how measurements made by gravitational wave observatories might probe properties of the compact extra dimensions.
