Landscape of 4d N = 1 SCFTs with a = c

We study a landscape of four-dimensional N = 1 superconformal field theories (SCFTs) with identical central charges. These theories are obtained by renormalization group flows triggered by supersymmetry-preserving superpotential deformations of the N = 1 gauging of the flavor symmetry of a collection of N = 2 D p ( G ) Argyres-Douglas SCFTs. In this work, we focus on the fixed points in the landscape of the S U ( 3 ) gauging of three copies of the D 2 ( S U ( 3 ) ) = H 2 theory together with an adjoint-valued chiral multiplet. We catalog the network of a = c fixed points, and, along the way, we find a variety of dualities and instances of supersymmetry enhancement. Published by the American Physical Society 2025

Linearizing the BPS equations with vector and tensor multiplets

We analyse the BPS equations of N = (1, 0) supergravity theory in six dimensions coupled to a vector and tensor multiplet. We show how these BPS equations can be reduced to a set of linear differential equations. This system is triangular in that each layer of equations, while linear, is quadratically sourced by the solutions of the previous layers. We examine several explicit examples and discuss the construction of new families of microstate geometries. We expect that the result presented here will open up new branches of superstrata in which the momentum is encoded in a new class of charge carriers.

Precision bootstrap for the $\mathcal{N}$ = 1 super-Ising model

In this note we report an improved determination of the scaling dimensions and OPE coefficients of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the 3d Ising model using the conformal bootstrap. We also show how this data can be used as input to the Lorentzian inversion formula, finding good agreement between analytic calculations and numerical extremal spectra once mixing effects are resolved.

Perfecting one-loop BCJ numerators in SYM and supergravity

We take a major step towards computing D-dimensional one-loop amplitudes in general gauge theories, compatible with the principles of unitarity and the color-kinematics duality. For n-point amplitudes with either supersymmetry multiplets or generic non-supersymmetric matter in the loop, simple all-multiplicity expressions are obtained for the maximal cuts of kinematic numerators of n-gon diagrams. At n = 6, 7 points with maximal supersymmetry, we extend the cubic-diagram numerators to encode all contact terms, and thus solve the long-standing problem of simultaneously realizing the following properties: color-kinematics duality, manifest locality, optimal power counting of loop momenta, quadratic rather than linearized Feynman propagators, compatibility with double copy as well as all graph symmetries. Color-kinematics dual representations with similar properties are presented in the half-maximally supersymmetric case at n = 4, 5 points. The resulting gauge-theory integrands and their supergravity counterparts obtained from the double copy are checked to reproduce the expected ultraviolet divergences.

Broken conformal window

We show that near the edges of the conformal window of supersymmetric SU(Nc) QCD, perturbed by Anomaly Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking (AMSB), chiral symmetry can be broken depending on the initial conditions of the RG flow. We do so by perturbatively expanding around Banks-Zaks fixed points and taking advantage of Seiberg duality. Interpolating between the edges of the conformal window, we predict that non-supersymmetric QCD breaks chiral symmetry up to N f ≤ 3N c − 1, while we cannot say anything definitive for N f ≥ 3N c at this moment.

Open-closed string duality, branes, and topological recursion

We consider matrix models exhibiting open-closed string duality in two-dimensional string theories with various amounts of supersymmetry. In particular, a relationship between matrix models in the β = 2 Wigner-Dyson class and models in the (1 + 2Γ, 2) Altland-Zirnbauer class relates the perturbative solutions of the two systems’ string equations. Point-like operator insertions in the closed string theory are mapped to the topological expansion of the free energy in the open string theory. We compute correlation functions of macroscopic loop operators and FZZT branes in a general topological gravity background. The relationship between the topological recursion of moduli space volumes and branes is discussed by analyzing the Virasoro conditions in the matrix models.

R7-branes as charge conjugation operators

R7-branes are a class of recently discovered nonsupersymmetric real codimension-two duality defects in type IIB string theory predicted by the swampland cobordism conjecture. For type IIB realizations of 6D SCFTs with N = ( 2 , 0 ) supersymmetry, wrapping an R7-brane “at infinity” leads to a topological operator associated with a zero-form charge conjugation symmetry that squares to the identity. Similar considerations hold for those theories obtained from further toroidal compactification, but this can be obstructed by bundle curvature effects. Using some minimal data on the topological sector of the R7-branes, we extract the associated fusion rules for these charge conjugation operators. More broadly, we sketch a top down realization of various topological operators/interfaces associated with C , R , and T transformations. We also use holography to provide strong evidence for the existence of the R7-brane which is complementary to the cobordism conjecture. Similar considerations apply to other string-realized QFTs with symmetry operators constructed via nonsupersymmetric branes which carry a conserved charge. Type IIB at eight derivatives: insights from Superstrings, Superfields and Superparticles

We study the non-linear structure of Type IIB eight-derivative couplings involving the metric and the complexified three-form G 3 . We show that, at the level of five-point string amplitudes, the kinematics in the maximally R-symmetry-violating sector is fully matched by standard superspace integrals and by superparticle amplitudes in M-theory on a two-torus. The latter approach is used to determine the complete effective action in this sector and to verify its invariance under SL(2, Z) duality. We further comment on the general structure of the higher-point kinematics. Compactifications to lower dimensions provide both tests for our results and the arena for their applications. We verify that K 3 reductions are fully consistent with the constraints of six-dimensional supersymmetry, and derive the four-dimensional flux scalar potential and axion kinetic terms at order (α') 3 in Calabi-Yau threefold reductions.

Dirac pairings, one-form symmetries and Seiberg-Witten geometries

The Coulomb phase of a quantum field theory, when present, illuminates the analysis of its line operators and one-form symmetries. For 4d $\mathcal{N}$ = 2 field theories the low energy physics of this phase is encoded in the special Kähler geometry of the moduli space of Coulomb vacua. We clarify how the information on the allowed line operator charges and one-form symmetries is encoded in the special Kähler structure. We point out the important difference between the lattice of charged states and the homology lattice of the abelian variety fibered over the moduli space, which, when principally polarized, is naturally identified with a choice of the lattice of mutually local line operators. This observation illuminates how the distinct S-duality orbits of global forms of $\mathcal{N}$ = 4 theories are encoded geometrically.

Soft and collinear limits in $\mathcal{N}$ = 8 supergravity using double copy formalism

It is known that $\mathcal{N}$ = 8 supergravity is dual to $\mathcal{N}$ = 4 super Yang-Mills (SYM) via the double copy relation. Using the explicit relation between scattering amplitudes in the two theories, we calculate the soft and collinear limits in $\mathcal{N}$ = 8 supergravity from know results in $\mathcal{N}$ = 4 SYM. In our application of double copy, a particular self-duality condition is chosen for scalars that allows us to constrain and determine the R-symmetry indices of the supergravity states in the collinear limit.
