MCOR User Guide

User guide for the MCOR software package which is currently publicly hosted on Github (https://github.com/pnnl/MCOR). The Microgrid Component Optimization for Resilience (MCOR) tool simulates the operation of a renewable energy, battery, and back-up generator microgrid under a large range of outage conditions to understand how a potential system can meet the resilience goals of a particular site. It is an open-source, command line, Python-based tool that produces an output Excel spreadsheet as well as several types of plots to enable a user to compare different microgrid system sizes and costs. It is intended for high-level system planning and opportunity identification, and not for detailed electric system modeling and design. The tool includes a range of input parameters that can be adjusted or tuned to provide a more custom analysis as needed.

The User Guide for the ComPro Database

An extensive database of glass composition and durability data has been compiled at Savannah River National Laboratory to support the development of nuclear waste glasses. This database is referred to as the Glass Composition-Properties Database (ComPro). The ComPro Database, Revision 3, contains 14,134 total rows of data and 125 columns of composition, durability, as defined by the Product Consistency Test, and other fabrication and characterization information, if available, for each glass. Of the 14,134 total rows, 8,484 rows have been classified as “Model” data and 5,650 rows have been classified as “Non-Model” data. An integral supplement to the ComPro database is the User Guide. The User Guide was developed as a tool to aid the End User in a more effective use of the ComPro database. The User Guide provides a road-map of the specific datasets that comprise the ComPro database (both “Model” and “Non-Model” data) as well as a technical basis for the terminology and definitions the End User will encounter. In this report, a general description of the format and information contained in the User Guide is provided. In addition, specific terminology used in the User Guide is also discussed.

Cyber100 Compass User Guide

This document provides an overview of the Cyber100 Compass tool and serves as a guide to users interested in understanding the cybersecurity risks facing their clean energy transition. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) developed the Cyber100 Compass tool for cyber risk assessment at the system-of-systems level for system planners trying to reach high levels of renewables. Two offices of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) - the Office of Electricity and the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response-funded NREL to develop this framework that will enable grid system planners to understand and mitigate cybersecurity risk for grids transitioning to high levels of renewable generation, including 100%. Cyber100 Compass can help systems planners apply the principle of security-by-design at scale. Investing in an upfront understanding of system-of-systems (where the constituent systems are operating entities of the different renewable resources) risks from high-renewable grids will result in a more resilient grid at a lower long-term cost.

Sensitivity Analysis Tool for Electrochemical Conversion of CO 2 To CO: User Guide

This is the user guide for the tool described here: Development of technologies that convert carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) into products is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management Carbon Conversion Program portfolio. One such technology under development converts CO 2 to value-added products via electrochemical reduction, where catalysts are used on the cathode to promote CO 2 conversion across the electrochemical catalyst (ECC) cell. Broadly, the ECC is integrated with balance of plant (BOP) equipment (e.g., compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, purification units) in system configurations to produce the desired product. To guide research and development (R&D) toward advancements that may make such conversion technologies economically competitive, researchers may use sensitivity analyses related to the ECC system cost and performance, including that of the cathodic and anodic catalysts. This tool is intended to inform developers and Program in assessing proposed R&D on ECC systems early in the development process. Results will guide researchers on where efforts would be best directed. The tool may be accessed here: https://www.netl.doe.gov/energy-analysis/details?id=55293cb1-6881-4181-a2b0-d00b711ce74b.

User Guide: A Curated Dataset of Regional Meteor Events with Simultaneous Optical and Infrasound Observations

This user guide supports a curated dataset of 71 meteor events recorded between 2006 and 2011 in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Each event was simultaneously observed by ground-based optical cameras and an infrasound array, providing a rare opportunity to examine meteor trajectories and acoustic signals from the same atmospheric entry events. The dataset includes raw and processed optical data, meteor trajectories, photometric light curves, infrasound waveforms, and atmospheric specifications relevant for acoustic modeling. The archive is structured to support reproducible research in meteor physics, atmospheric acoustics, and shock wave analysis. It is organized following transparent file naming conventions and structured folders to facilitate scientific reuse, comparison, and integration across research domains. The dataset is freely available on Zenodo, doi: 10.5281/zenodo.15868512.
