Improving Marine Biogeochemistry-Climate Feedbacks in ACME (Final Report)

Improve representation of marine biogeochemistry within E3SM to better capture climate-biogeochemistry feedbacks. This overall goal includes a number of components listed below. A key goal of this project is to better simulate the biological carbon pump, the transfer of carbon from surface waters to the ocean interior by sinking particulate organic matter (POM) and transport of dissolved organic matter (DOM). This is a primary feedback to climate as it directly modifies the air-sea CO 2 flux.
