Solubility data are compiled for metals in liquid zinc

Available data is compiled on the solubilities of various metals in liquid zinc. The temperature dependence of the solubility data is expressed using the empirical straight line relationship existing between the logarithm of the solubility and the reciprocal of the absolute temperature.

Compilation of detection sensitivities in thermal-neutron activation

Detection sensitivities of the chemical elements following thermal-neutron activation have been compiled from the available experimental cross sections and nuclear properties and presented in a concise and usable form. The report also includes the equations and nuclear parameters used in the calculations.

Compilation of Papers Summarizing Some Recent NASA Research on Manned Military Aircraft

The nine papers included in this volume were presented by NASA research staff members at the National Meeting on the Future of Manned Military Aircraft sponsored by the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences and held in San Diego, Calif., from August 1 to August 3, 1960. Because, together, they provide a comprehensive summary of research by NASA in the areas covered, they have been compiled in this publication for the information of personnel concerned with the design and procurement of manned military aircraft.

Compilation of Information on the Transonic Attachment of Flows at the Leading Edges of Airfoils

Schlieren photographs have been compiled of the two-dimensional flow at transonic speeds past 37 airfoils. These airfoils have variously shaped profiles, and some are related in thickness and camber. The data for these airfoils were analyzed to provide basic information on the flow changes involved and to determine factors affecting transonic-flow attachment, which is a transition from separated to unseparated flow at the leading edges of two-dimensional airfoils at fixed angles as the subsonic Mach number is increased.

Compilation of Test Data on 111 Free-Spinning Airplane Models Tested in the Langley 15-Foot and 20-Foot Free-Spinning Tunnels

A compilation of free-spinning-airplane model data on the spin and recovery characteristics of 111 airplanes is presented. These data were previously published in separate memorandum reports and were obtained from free-spinning tests in the Langley 15-foot and the Langley 20-foot free-spinning tunnels. The model test data presented include the steady-spin and recovery characteristics of each model for various combinations of aileron and elevator deflections and for various loadings and dimensional configurations. Dimensional data, mass data, and a three-view drawing of the corresponding free-spinning tunnel model are also presented for each airplane. The data presented should be of value to designers and should facilitate the design of airplanes incorporating satisfactory spin-recovery characteristics.
