Low rate flow switch can be used for gas or liquid

Flow switch operable at low flow rates is used for detecting the flow of a water coolant in a vacuum deposition apparatus. This switch utilizes one or more reed switches which are actuated by a sliding magnet.

High pressure flow-rate switch

Flow-rate switch adjusts easily over a wide switching range and operates uniformly over many cycles. It adapts easily to control of various fluids and has the possibility of introducing multi-point switching. Novel design features include the tapered spool, balanced porting, capillary-bypass lubrication, and capillary-restriction damping.

Investigation of boron powder flow rates on real-time wall

The limit of boron flow rates for real-time conditioning of the first walls has been systematically investigated in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) with a full metal wall. Initially, solid boron injection demonstrated effective control over carbon impurities and deuterium recycling on the basis of pre-discharge boronization. A minimum flow rate, identified between 1.0 mg/s and 2.0 mg/s, was necessary for actively improving wall conditions under specific plasma operating scenarios, with this effect progressively enhancing as boron flow rates increased. Additionally, a maximum flow rate, estimated between 3.5 mg/s and 8.0 mg/s, was identified for these plasma conditions. When boron flow rates exceeded this maximum, boron-induced fueling effects influenced the plasma line-averaged density, and at excessively high flow rates, plasma disruption was observed.

Flowmeter measures flow rates of high temperature fluids

Flowmeter in which flow rate is determined by measuring the position and thus the displacement of an internal float acted upon by the flowing fluid determines the flow rates of various liquid metals at elevated temperatures. Viscous forces cause the float to move from its mounted position, affording several means for measuring this motion and the flow rate.

Device accurately measures and records low gas-flow rates

Free-floating piston in a vertical column accurately measures and records low gas-flow rates. The system may be calibrated, using an adjustable flow-rate gas supply, a low pressure gage, and a sequence recorder. From the calibration rates, a nomograph may be made for easy reduction. Temperature correction may be added for further accuracy.

The dynamic behavior of articulated pipes conveying fluid with periodic flow rate.

The plane motion of two rigid, straight articulated pipes conveying fluid is examined. In contrast to previous work, the flow rate is not taken as constant, but is allowed to have small periodic oscillations about a mean value, as would be expected in a pump-driven system. It is shown that in the presence of such disturbances, both parametric and combination resonances are possible. When the system can also admit loss of stability by static buckling or by flutter, it is found that the presence of small periodic disturbances constitutes a destabilizing effect. Floquet theory and converging infinite determinant expansions are used to illustrate a basic difference between systems which lose stability by divergence and those that lose stability by flutter. An algebraic criterion is obtained for the minimum amplitude of flow-rate oscillation required for the system to be affected by the presence of small disturbances.

Volumetric system calibrates meters for large flow rates

Volumetric system calibrates meters used for large liquid flow rates. The system employs trip probes and equipment to time the flow of liquid from a tare vessel into a calibrated vessel. This calibration system is used in the petroleum and chemical industries.
