Two-Diffraction-Order, Beam-Splitting, Imaging Spectrometer

Two-octave imaging spectrometer utilizes light of two harmonically related wavelengths diffracted to harmonically related orders at same angles, followed by separation via dichroic beam splitter before final imaging. Conceptual design of spectrometer calls for minimum number of optical elements to achieve coverage of required visible and near-infrared wavelengths in instrument of reduced size, weight, and cost.

Sequential Polarity-Reversing Circuit

Proposed circuit reverses polarity of electric power supplied to bidirectional dc motor, reversible electro-mechanical actuator, or other device operating in direction depending on polarity. Circuit reverses polarity each time power turned on, without need for additional polarity-reversing or direction signals and circuitry to process them.

Integrated filter and detector array for spectral imaging

A spectral imaging system having an integrated filter and photodetector array is disclosed. The filter has narrow transmission bands which vary in frequency along the photodetector array. The frequency variation of the transmission bands is matched to, and aligned with, the frequency variation of a received spectral image. The filter is deposited directly on the photodetector array by a low temperature deposition process. By depositing the filter directly on the photodetector array, permanent alignment is achieved for all temperatures, spectral crosstalk is substantially eliminated, and a high signal to noise ratio is achieved.

Measuring Spatially Varying Transmittance Of A Filter

Focusing/collimating-and-scanning apparatus adapts spectro-photometer to spectral transmittance of optical filter as function of position on filter. Mounted in sample chamber of spectrophotometer. All-reflective microscope objectives focus quasi-collimated light onto desired spot and recollimate diverging light emerging from filter. Measurements made in infrared, visible, or ultraviolet.

Spectrum-Imaging Detector Array With Integrated Filter

Proposed rectangular array of photodetectors in imaging spectrometer includes integral filter deposited directly on imaging array which would not become misaligned or misregistered as result of mechanical shock, vibration, or differential thermal expansion. Need for precise alignment and registration of filter cannot be over-emphasized.
