Revisiting 𝐢 and 𝐢⁒𝑃 violation in πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + πœ‹ - β’πœ‹ 0 decay

The decay πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 is an ideal process in which to study flavor-conserving 𝐢 and 𝐢⁒𝑃 violation beyond the Standard Model. We deduce the 𝐢- and 𝐢⁒𝑃-odd quark operators that contribute to πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 originating from the mass-dimension-six Standard Model effective field theory. The corresponding hadron-level operators that generate a nonvanishing 𝐼 = 0 amplitude at order 𝑝 6 in the chiral effective theory are presented for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, in addition to the leading-order operators ascribed to the 𝐼 = 2 final state. By fitting the KLOE-2 and the most recent BESIII experimental data, we determine the coefficients of the lowest-order 𝐼 = 0 and 𝐼 = 2 amplitudes and estimate the potential new physics energy scale. We also perform an impact study of the future πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 experiments.

Connected and Disconnected Sea Partons from CT18 Parametrization of PDFs

The separation of the connected and disconnected sea partons, which were uncovered in the Euclidean path-integral formulation of the hadronic tensor, is accommodated with the CT18 parametrization of the global analysis of the parton distribution functions (PDFs). This is achieved with the help of the distinct small x x behaviors of these two sea parton components and the constraint from the lattice calculation of the ratio of the strange momentum fraction to that of the {\bar u} u β€Ύ or {\bar d} d β€Ύ in the disconnected insertion. This allows lattice calculations of separate flavors in both the connected and disconnected insertions to be directly compared with the global analysis results term by term.

Parton distributions and lattice-QCD calculations: Toward 3D structure

The strong force which binds hadrons is described by the theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Determining the character and manifestations of QCD is one of the most important and challenging outstanding issues necessary for a comprehensive understanding of the structure of hadrons. Within the context of the QCD parton picture, the parton distribution functions (PDFs) have been remarkably successful in describing a wide variety of processes. However, these PDFs have generally been confined to the description of collinear partons within the hadron. New experiments and facilities provide the opportunity to additionally explore the transverse structure of hadrons which is described by generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs). In our previous report Lin et al. (2018), we compared and contrasted the two main approaches used to determine the collinear PDFs: the first based on perturbative QCD factorization theorems, and the second based on lattice-QCD calculations. In the present report, we provide an update of recent progress on the collinear PDFs, and also expand the scope to encompass the generalized PDFs (GPDs and TMD PDFs). We review the current state of the various calculations, and consider what new data might be available in the near future. We also examine how a shared effort can foster dialog between the PDF and lattice-QCD communities, and yield improvements for these generalized PDFs.
