Revisiting 𝐢 and 𝐢⁒𝑃 violation in πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + πœ‹ - β’πœ‹ 0 decay

Abstract

The decay πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 is an ideal process in which to study flavor-conserving 𝐢 and 𝐢⁒𝑃 violation beyond the Standard Model. We deduce the 𝐢- and 𝐢⁒𝑃-odd quark operators that contribute to πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 originating from the mass-dimension-six Standard Model effective field theory. The corresponding hadron-level operators that generate a nonvanishing 𝐼 = 0 amplitude at order 𝑝 6 in the chiral effective theory are presented for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, in addition to the leading-order operators ascribed to the 𝐼 = 2 final state. By fitting the KLOE-2 and the most recent BESIII experimental data, we determine the coefficients of the lowest-order 𝐼 = 0 and 𝐼 = 2 amplitudes and estimate the potential new physics energy scale. We also perform an impact study of the future πœ‚ β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ βˆ’ β’πœ‹ 0 experiments.

Results from the T2K Experiment on Neutrino Mixing Including a New Far Detector πœ‡-like Sample

We have made improved measurements of three-flavor neutrino mixing with 19.7⁒(16.3) Γ— 10 20 protons on target in (anti-)neutrino-enhanced beam modes. A new sample of muon-neutrino events with tagged pions has been added at the far detector, as well as new proton and photon-tagged samples at the near detector. Significant improvements have been made to the flux and neutrino interaction modeling. T2K data continue to prefer the normal mass ordering and upper octant of sin 2 β‘πœƒ 23 with a near-maximal value of the charge-parity violating phase with best-fit values in the normal ordering of 𝛿 CP = βˆ’2.18$^{+1.22}_{βˆ’0.47}$, sin 2 β‘πœƒ 23 = 0.559$^{+0.018}_{βˆ’0.078}$ and Ξ”β’π‘š$^{2}_{32}$ = (+2.506$^{+0.039}_{βˆ’0.052}$) Γ— 10 βˆ’3 eV 2 .

Leptogenesis in automatic Nelson-Barr models

In this study, we numerically show that automatic Nelson-Barr models with new chiral fermions can simultaneously solve the strong CP problem and generate the observed baryon asymmetry via high-scale leptogenesis. In these models, all CP violation arises from a single spontaneous symmetry-breaking scale, linking the origin of quark and lepton CP phases. Using conservative assumptions and minimal dynamics, we identify a viable parameter window where successful leptogenesis occurs without spoiling the quality of the strong CP solution. Models with vector-like fermions face tension within this leptogenesis scenario. A key prediction is a correlation between the baryon asymmetry and the induced QCD vacuum angle shift. Remarkably, we find that the majority of the available parameter space is within reach of current and future nucleon EDM experiments.

Measurement of the 𝐢⁒𝑃 asymmetry in 𝐷 + β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ 0 decays at Belle II

We measure the 𝐢⁒𝑃 asymmetry in 𝐷 + β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ 0 decays reconstructed in 𝑒 + ⁒𝑒 βˆ’ collisions at the Belle II experiment using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 428 fb βˆ’1 . A control sample of 𝐷 + β†’ πœ‹ + ⁒𝐾$^0_𝑆$ decays is used to correct for detection and production asymmetries. The result 𝐴 𝐢⁒𝑃 ⁑(𝐷 + β†’ πœ‹ + β’πœ‹ 0 ) = (βˆ’1.8 Β± 0.9 Β± 0.1)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, is the most precise determination to date. It agrees with the prediction of 𝐢⁒𝑃 symmetry from the standard model and with results of previous measurements.
