Cracks in Glass Polymers Induced by Solvent Absorption
Abstract
Combination of soluble particles and absorbed solvents cause polymer cracking. New failure mechanism in glassy polymers identified. Cracking caused by presence of particles insoluble in polymer matrix but soluble in solvent. Experiments performed and equations describe cracking phenomenon set forth in concise report.
