Glass research in space
Abstract
Opportunities and problems associated with conducting containerless glass experiments in a microgravity environment are examined. Particular aspects of gel-derived glasses for space processing research are discussed, along with current space-related research activities in areas of amorphous phase separation, crystallization, and heterogeneous and homogeneous crystal nucleation.
