Influence of intermediate carbon content on the microstructure and high-temperature mechanical properties of cast and wrought Ni-based superalloy nimonic 105
Abstract
NIMONIC® 105 variants with three different carbon concentrations were manufactured. Here, the medium carbon content variant shows inferior creep properties due to a bimodal grain size distribution and non-uniform carbides repartition leading to plastic strain accumulation between the two domains. Here, this eventually facilitated facile cracking and void formation during high-temperature creep.
