AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-RC2 Cook Agronomy Farm - Conventional Till

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-RC2 Cook Agronomy Farm - Conventional Till. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-RC2 Cook Agronomy Farm - Conventional Till produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - RC2 operated from 2013-2016 at the R.J. Cook Agronomy Farm, as part of a cluster of 5 towers (RC1 to RC5) operated for the Regional Approaches to Climate Change (REACCH) USDA-supported research project. The tower predates the Longterm Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) site common experiment, which was established in nearby fields at the Cook Agronomy Farm in 2017. Cook Agronomy Farm is in the high-precipitation agroecological zone of the Columbia Plateau’s dryland cropping region. Wheat-based crop rotations are grown annually. RC2 had conventional tillage management (reduced-till) since at least 1998. It was contrasted with RC1, which had no-till management over the same time period. RC2 captured the same tillage practices as the US-CF2 site established in 2017 as part of LTAR common experiment. However, the towers have distinct footprints, aspects, and soil series composition.

Advanced Reactor Safeguards & Security 2024 Program Roadmap

The Advanced Reactor Safeguards and Security (ARSS) program was established to provide research support addressing near term challenges that advanced nuclear reactor vendors face in meeting domestic Material Control and Accounting (MC&A), Physical Protection System (PPS), and Cybersecurity requirements for U.S. construction. The technical work in the program is meant to (1) support nuclear reactor vendors with advanced MC&A, PPS, and Cybersecurity designs for next generation reactors, (2) provide technical bases for the regulator, and (3) promote the integration of Safeguards and Security by Design early in the design process. Existing domestic regulations for safeguards and security, as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, were written for large light water reactors, and rule-making efforts are underway to develop regulations more suited to different reactor designs. The ARSS program seeks to remove roadblocks in the deployment of new and advanced reactors by solving regulatory challenges, reducing safeguards and security costs, and utilizing the latest technologies and approaches for robust plant monitoring and protection. This roadmap discusses the goals of the ARSS program, current research, and program plan for the next five years.

SIERRA Code Coupling Module: Arpeggio User Manual (V.5.20)

The SNL Sierra Mechanics code suite is designed to enable simulation of complex multiphysics scenarios. The code suite is composed of several specialized applications which can operate either in standalone mode or coupled with each other. Arpeggio is a supported utility that enables loose coupling of the various Sierra Mechanics applications by providing access to Framework services that facilitate the coupling. More importantly Arpeggio orchestrates the execution of applications that participate in the coupling. This document describes the various components of Arpeggio and their operability. The intent of the document is to provide a fast path for analysts interested in coupled applications via simple examples of its usage.

Assessment and Coordination of EVSE Cybersecurity Standards

Cybersecurity certification programs for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) are fragmented due to no single certification covering all aspects of the device and additionally the existence of multiple programs and under different levels of regulation. These devices are also confronted by the intricate assembly of product software, firmware, and hardware. Devices contain both logical and physical interfaces. These multifaceted devices have vulnerabilities at many levels and interconnect with other potentially vulnerable systems including the electric vehicle, the cloud where data and payment information are stored, and the electric grid and electric grid equipment including utilities. Of the EVSE certification programs that are found, none are directly for the cybersecurity of EVSE. Many standards are for safety, specifically battery safety, some are cybersecurity standards for other types of equipment and can be modeled for EVSE. In specific, ISA/IEC 62443 is found to be significantly in line with EVSE security needs and will be used in future testing to certify EVSE and help guide the project to demonstrate where gaps exist, where strengths lie in the standard and how this can be used to lead the certification efforts in harmonizing EVSE cybersecurity standards. In addition, there are multiple efforts that are currently seeking to build EVSE standards or revise existing standards to address gaps. This effort is seeking to establish a cybersecurity program for EVSE that will inform customers and help increase the level of security across products and state EVSE procurements to achieve consistency across different jurisdictions.

Integrity Enhancing Protocols: Performance and Recommendations for Nuclear Systems

In today’s communication landscape there are multiple technologies and protocols used for communication between end devices. Within security paradigms for these protocols, integrity management is a common goal of system designers. Communication protocols focused on maintaining message integrity can provide assurance that some received data has not been altered or tampered with. While integrity is often coupled with confidentiality in protocol design, this analysis focuses on an evaluation of only integrity protocols. This report outlines various ways message integrity may be preserved with respect to high performance operational technology (OT) systems. It describes a series of experiments and an evaluation framework used to evaluate the performance of the identified integrity approaches regarding common system design goals. Finally, it addresses the testing environment utilized and closes the report with a summary of experimental results.

Standardization and Recommendations for EVSE Cybersecurity Standards

Currently, there is an absence of cybersecurity certification programs specifically for EVSE. Many existing standards focus primarily on safety, such as battery safety, while others provide cybersecu rity guidelines for different types of equipment, which could be adapted for EVSE. Among these, ISA/IEC 62443 has been identified as highly aligned with EVSE security needs. This report is a follow on to the previous research published (“Assessment and Coordination of EVSE Cybersecurity Standards,”). This report aims to find appropriate strategies for closing the gaps found in the aforementioned report and continue to work towards a comprehensive cybersecurity certification program for EVSE. Future testing will leverage this standard to assess EVSE security gaps and strengths, providing valuable insights to support certification development and harmonization of cybersecurity standards.
