Bound states of Ω baryons in light nuclei

Here, we investigate bound states of light Ω 3⁢𝑥 clusters (𝑥=𝑠,𝑐), motivated by the Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢𝑁 potential recently developed by the HAL QCD collaboration. To regularize this potential, we remove the deeply attractive core at 𝑟 < 0.4 fm and parametrize the long-range component (𝑟 > 0.4 fm) using a two-range Gaussian form. This procedure preserves the relevant two-body bound-state energy while having a negligible effect on the Ω 3⁢𝑠⁢ 𝑁⁢𝑁 and Ω 3⁢𝑠⁢ Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢𝑁 systems. An effective Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢𝛼 potential is then constructed by fitting a two-range Gaussian function to the long-range component of the folding potential, enabling calculations of the bound-state energies of the Ω 3⁢𝑠⁢ 𝛼, Ω 3⁢𝑠⁢ 𝛼⁢𝛼, and Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢𝛼 systems. The regularization procedure leads to a substantial reduction in bound-state energies compared to those obtained with the original potential. We further extend the analysis to Ω 3⁢𝑐 -cluster systems by introducing an Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑁 interaction, derived by comparing the existing Ω 3⁢𝑠⁢ Ω 3⁢𝑠 and Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢Ω 3⁢𝑐 potentials. Our results suggest that several parametrizations predict bound states in Ω 3⁢𝑐 -containing clusters. Finally, the Ω 3⁢𝑠 ⁢Ω 3⁢𝑠 interaction is described using a contactlike potential approach, motivated by the effective field theory.

Hypertriton puzzle in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

The yields of hadrons and light nuclei in relativistic collisions of heavy-nuclei at a center of mass energy of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2.6 TeV can be described remarkably well by a thermal distribution of an ideal gas of hadrons and light nuclei interacting only via the decay of resonances. Given the particularly small binding energy of hypertritons relative to the temperature describing the yields (about 156 MeV), one might naturally expect hypertrions to dissociate in medium, making the agreement of hypertriton yields with thermal predictions highly puzzling. The puzzle is compounded by the fact that small binding energy is associated with the large size of the hypertriton. This size is on a similar scale to the overall size of the fireball and much larger than the length scale over which temperatures in the fireball vary over phenomenologically relevant amounts. Here, this paper quantifies the tension this effect causes and shows that it is sufficiently large to render the thermal model inconsistent: its natural assumptions are in conflict with its outputs. The possibility that hypertritons are formed at freeze out as compact objects, quark droplets, that subsequently evolve into hypertritons is considered as a way to resolve the puzzle. It is noted that beyond making the assumption that compact quark droplets form, additional detailed dynamical assumptions which have not been justified are needed to make the thermal model work. The issue of why, despite these issues, the hypertriton is well described by a simple statistical description at freeze out is unresolved. Resolving the hypertriton puzzle is important as it may clarify whether the phenomenological success of the simple thermal model for yields accurately reflects the simple picture of the underlying physics on which it is based.

Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑁⁢𝑁 and Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑁 systems with HAL QCD potentials

Here, this study employs the Faddeev formalism in configuration space to investigate the Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑁⁢𝑁 cluster containing a triply charmed Omega baryon (Ω 3⁢𝑐 ). Using the recently reported HAL QCD 𝑆-wave Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑁 potentials in the 3 𝑆 1 and 5 𝑆 2 channels, together with the MT-I–III nucleon-nucleon potential and neglecting the Coulomb force, we find no bound state for the Ω 3⁢𝑐 ⁢𝑛⁢𝑝 system. We predict near-threshold resonances in the 𝐽 𝜋 =5/2 + (maximal total spin) and 𝐽 𝜋 =1/2 + (minimal total spin) states, with resonance energies of 1.1 MeV below and 0.0 MeV at the three-body breakup threshold, respectively, at Euclidean time 𝑡/𝑎 =16. A similar analysis of the Ω 3⁢𝑐⁢ Ω 3⁢𝑐⁢ 𝑁 system likewise reveals no bound states, though a possible resonance is indicated.

Electroproduction of the Λ/Σ 0 hyperons at Q 2 ≃ 0.5 (GeV/c) 2 at forward angles

In 2018, the E12-17-003 experiment was conducted at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) to explore the possible existence of an nn⁢Λ state in the reconstructed missing mass distribution from a tritium gas target [K. N. Suzuki et al., Prog. Theor. Exp. Phys. 2022, 013D01 (2022); B. Pandey et al., Phys. Rev. C 105, L051001 (2022)]. As part of this investigation, data were also collected using a gaseous hydrogen target, not only for a precise absolute mass scale calibration but also for the study of Λ/Σ 0 electroproduction. This dataset was acquired at Q 2 ≃ 0.5 (GeV/c) 2 , W = 2.14 GeV, and θ$^{c.m.}_{γK}$ ≃ 8°. It covers forward angles where photoproduction data are scarce and a low-Q 2 region that is of interest for hypernuclear experiments. On the other hand, this kinematic region is at a slightly higher Q 2 than previous hypernuclear experiments, thus providing crucial information for understanding the Q 2 dependence of the differential cross sections for Λ/Σ 0 hyperon electroproduction. Here, this paper reports on the Q 2 dependence of the differential cross section for the e + p → e' + K + + Λ/Σ 0 reaction at 0.2–0.8 (GeV/c) 2 , and provides comparisons with the currently available theoretical models.

First Measurement of 𝐴 = 4 Hypernuclei and Antihypernuclei at the LHC

In this Letter, the first evidence of the $^4_{\bar{Λ}}$$\overline{He}$ antihypernucleus is presented, along with the first measurement at the LHC of the production of (anti)hypernuclei with mass number 𝐴 = 4, specifically (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$H and (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$He. In addition, the antiparticle-to-particle ratios for both hypernuclei ($^4_{\bar{Λ}}$$\bar{H}$⁡/$^4_Λ$H and $^4_{\bar{Λ}}$$\overline{He}$/$^4_Λ$He) are shown, which are sensitive to the baryochemical potential of the strongly interacting matter created in heavy-ion collisions. The results are obtained from a data sample of central Pb-Pb collisions, collected during the 2018 LHC data taking at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{𝑠_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV. The yields measured for the average of the charge-conjugated states are found to be [0.78 ± 0.19⁢(stat) ± 0.17⁢(syst)] × 10 −6 for the (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$H and [1.08 ± 0.34⁢(stat)± 0.20⁢(syst)] × 10 −6 for the (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$He, and the measured antiparticle-to-particle ratios are in agreement with unity. The presence of (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$H and (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$He excited states is expected to strongly enhance the production yield of these hypernuclei. The yield values exhibit a combined deviation of 3.3⁢𝜎 from the theoretical ground-state-only expectation, while the inclusion of the excited states in the calculations leads to an agreement within 0.6⁢𝜎 with the present measurements. Additionally, the measured (anti)$^4_Λ$H and (anti)⁢$^4_Λ$He masses are compatible with the world-average values within the uncertainties.
