Hydrogen Detection via a Low-Cost Prototype Fiber-Optic Sensing System

Abstract

The developed low-cost prototype sensing system successfully detects hydrogen concentrations across a wide range, demonstrating immediate feasibility for commercial deployment. Utilizing fiber-optic technology, the system delivers stable, reproducible performance from parts-per-million levels up to 100% pure H2 environments. Environmental and chemical cross-sensitivity evaluations confirm robust selectivity against methane and temperature changes, establishing its readiness for near-term commercialization.
