Flow matching beyond kinematics: Generating jets with particle identification and trajectory displacement information

We introduce the first generative model trained on the etlass dataset. Our model generates jets at the constituent level, and it is a permutation-equivariant continuous normalizing flow (CNF) trained with the flow matching technique. It is conditioned on the jet type, so that a single model can be used to generate the ten different jet types of etlass. For the first time, we also introduce a generative model that goes beyond the kinematic features of jet constituents. The etlass dataset includes more features, such as particle-ID and track impact parameter, and we demonstrate that our CNF can accurately model all of these additional features as well. Our generative model for etlass expands on the versatility of existing jet generation techniques, enhancing their potential utility in high-energy physics research, and offering a more comprehensive understanding of the generated jets. Search for Nearly Mass-Degenerate Higgsinos Using Low-Momentum Mildly Displaced Tracks in 𝑝⁢𝑝 Collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector

Higgsinos with masses near the electroweak scale can solve the hierarchy problem and provide a dark matter candidate, while detecting them at the LHC remains challenging if their mass splitting is 𝒪⁡(1 GeV). This Letter presents a novel search for nearly mass-degenerate Higgsinos in events with an energetic jet, missing transverse momentum, and a low-momentum track with a significant transverse impact parameter using 140 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment. For the first time since LEP, a range of mass splittings between the lightest charged and neutral Higgsinos from 0.3 to 0.9 GeV is excluded at 95% confidence level, with a maximum reach of approximately 170 GeV in the Higgsino mass.

Search for Light Long-Lived Particles in $pp$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV Using Displaced Vertices in the ATLAS Inner Detector

A search for long-lived particles (LLPs) using 140 fb -1 of pp collision data with $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is presented. The search targets LLPs with masses between 5 and 55 GeV that decay hadronically in the ATLAS inner detector. Benchmark models with LLP pair production from exotic decays of the Higgs boson and models featuring long-lived axionlike particles (ALPs) are considered. No significant excess above the expected background is observed. Upper limits are placed on the branching ratio of the Higgs boson to pairs of LLPs, the cross section for ALPs produced in association with a vector boson, and, for the first time, on the branching ratio of the top quark to an ALP and a u/c quark.

Radial Steering Displacement Method to Measure Dispersion

The measurement of the dispersion function in a transfer line plays the crucial role for the development of an accurate optics model for the beam tracking simulation. In this technical note, we describe an experimental method to measure the dispersion value at multi-wire location MW063 in the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) transfer line. Finally, we use our MADX model to calculate the dispersion function at the same multi-wire location. The ultimate goal of this measurement and calculation is to understand the right value of dispersion function and the beam size (emittance) at the entrance of NSRL beam line.

TRUST Sensors in Environments: Fiber Optic Displacement (SE-FOD)

The objective of the Delivery Environments (DE) Testbeds to Reduce Uncertainty in Simulations and Tests (TRUST) project is to quantify and help increase confidence in specific areas of computational and experimental capabilities that are applicable to the development, on-target assessment, and qualification of current and future delivery environments. More complete quantification of confidence in experimental and computational capabilities and the sufficient increase of confidence in those capabilities is critical to improving weapons engineering design, qualification, and assessment efforts that are critical to the current and future stockpile. Under the TRUST work package, engineers use and provide feedback on analysis tools and experimental results and create databases for efficient and responsive engineering which are currently under development.

Develop Renewable/Sustainable Material to Displace Petroleum-Derived Polymer Foams (CRADA Final Report)

NLR and EDEN will partner together to develop renewable, biodegradable alternatives to polyfoam (polyurethane) polymer foams. The initial focus will be on developing cellulose-based foam with tunable mechanical properties. NLR will produce and test the cellulose-based foam materials and characterize its microstructure and mechanical properties. Relationships between mechanical performance formulation and fabrication methods will be developed.
