Goddard Modular SmallSat Architecture (GMSA) Adapter Board H-Bridge MOSEFT ICs Total Ionizing Dose Characterization Report

The purpose of this testing was to obtain total ionizing dose (TID) information about commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) n-channel and p-channel MOFETs that are being considered for use on the Goddard Modular SmallSat Architecture (GMSA) Adapter board in an H-Bridge circuit to drive magnetorquers. Testing took place at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s (GSFC) Radiation Effects Facility using the gamma source. Testing occurred from July 31st – August 1st, 2018.

The Effect of Total Ionizing Dose Degradation of Laptop Hard Disks

A series of total ionizing dose (TID) measurements were performed on commercial hard drives to explore the possible uses of the devices for the high radiation mission, and to help the understanding of the reliability of current hard drive technology. Three different models from three major manufacturers were tested with the aid of a commercial hard drive test system.

Compendium of Current Total Ionizing Dose and Displacement Damage Results from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Electronic Parts and Packaging Program

Total ionizing dose and displacement damage testing was performed to characterize and determine the suitability of candidate electronics for NASA space utilization. Devices tested include optoelectronics, digital, analog, linear bipolar devices, and hybrid devices. Displacement Damage, Optoelectronics, Proton Damage, Single Event Effects, and Total Ionizing Dose.

Total Ionizing Dose Effects in Bipolar and BiCMOS Devices

This paper describes total ionizing dose (TID) test results performed at JPL. Bipolar and BiCMOS device samples were tested exhibiting significant degradation and failures at different irradiation levels. Linear technology which is susceptible to low-dose dependency (ELDRS) exhibited greater damage for devices tested under zero bias condition.

Total Ionizing Dose Test Report for the UC1823A Pulse Width Modulator

The purpose of this study is to examine the total ionizing dose susceptibility for the UC1823A pulse width modulator manufactured by Texas Instruments, Inc. The part is suspected to be vulnerable to enhanced low dose rate sensitivity (ELDRS).

U309 N-Channel Silicon Junction Field Effect Transistor Total Ionizing Dose Characterization Report

The purpose of this testing was to characterize the InterFET Corporation U309 for total dose response. This test shall serve as the radiation lot acceptance test (RLAT) for the lot date code (LDC) tested. The U309 is a discrete Junction Field Effect Transistor (JFET). High dose rate (HDR) irradiations were performed in this test so that the device susceptibility to Total Ionizing Dose (TID) could be determined.

Total Ionizing Dose (TID) Testing of the PA10 Power Operational Amplifier

This study was undertaken to determine the total ionizing dose (TID) sensitivity of the PA10 Power Op Amp Manufactured by APEX (figure 1), which is a candidate for use on the LDCM TIRS instrument. The test was conducted with interest in both parametric degradation and functional failure in the configuration like that of the TIRS application. (See figure 2). The DUT was irradiated in a stepwise fashion, with parametric and functional degradation measured between steps. The parts were irradiated with gamma rays at a low dose rate (~0.01 rads(Si)/sec.).

A review of dose rate dependent effects of total ionizing dose /TID/ irradiations

The basic effects of ionizing radiation are summarized. The problem of the existence of a true dose rate effect is examined. Consideration is given to the nature of long term annealing, which is sometimes manifested as an 'apparent' dose rate effect. Both analytical and experimental work is considered and the results are related to practical testing requirements.

Compendium of Single Event Effects, Total Ionizing Dose, and Displacement Damage for Candidate Spacecraft Electronics for NASA

We present results and analysis investigating the effects of radiation on a variety of candidate spacecraft electronics to proton and heavy ion induced single event effects (SEE), proton-induced displacement damage (DD), and total ionizing dose (TID). Introduction: This paper is a summary of test results.NASA spacecraft are subjected to a harsh space environment that includes exposure to various types of ionizing radiation. The performance of electronic devices in a space radiation environment is often limited by its susceptibility to single event effects (SEE), total ionizing dose (TID), and displacement damage (DD). Ground-based testing is used to evaluate candidate spacecraft electronics to determine risk to spaceflight applications. Interpreting the results of radiation testing of complex devices is quite difficult. Given the rapidly changing nature of technology, radiation test data are most often application-specific and adequate understanding of the test conditions is critical. Studies discussed herein were undertaken to establish the application-specific sensitivities of candidate spacecraft and emerging electronic devices to single-event upset (SEU), single-event latchup (SEL), single-event gate rupture (SEGR), single-event burnout (SEB), single-event transient (SET), TID, enhanced low dose rate sensitivity (ELDRS), and DD effects.

A 0.18 micrometer CMOS Thermopile Readout ASIC Immune to 50 MRAD Total Ionizing Dose (SI) and Single Event Latchup to 174MeV-cm(exp 2)/mg

Radiation hardened by design (RHBD) techniques allow commercial CMOS circuits to operate in high total ionizing dose and particle fluence environments. Our radiation hard multi-channel digitizer (MCD) ASIC (Figure 1) is a versatile analog system on a chip (SoC) fabricated in 180nm CMOS. It provides 18 chopper stabilized amplifier channels, a 16- bit sigma-delta analog-digital converter (SDADC) and an on-chip controller. The MCD was evaluated at Goddard Space Flight Center and Texas A&M University's radiation effects facilities and found to be immune to single event latchup (SEL) and total ionizing dose (TID) at 174 MeV-cm(exp 2)/mg and 50 Mrad (Si) respectively.

Total Ionizing Dose Test of Microsemi's Silicon Switching Transistors JANTXV2N2222AUB and 2N2907AUB

Microsemi's silicon switching transistors, JANTXV2N2222AUB and 2N2907AUB, were tested for total ionizing dose (TID) response beginning on July 11, 2016. This test served as the radiation lot acceptance test (RLAT) for the lot date code (LDC) tested. Low dose rate (LDR) irradiations were performed in this test so that the device susceptibility to enhanced low dose rate sensitivity (ELDRS) could be determined.
